TRAFFIC ALERT: Lane & ramp closures along I-29 in Clay/Platte for asphalt paving, Sept. 1-14

CLAY AND PLATTE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be performing guardrail replacement resulting in various traffic modifications, on Interstate 29 just south of Mexico City Ave. to U69. This project will take place throughout the summer months and motorists may experience delays through mid-September. Traffic impacts will be shared as work is scheduled. Lane closures may vary between nights. All work is weather permitting. Please see below for traffic modifications:

The following traffic modifications will take place, evening and overnight from 7:00 PM until 6:00 AM between Sept. 1-14

Overnight Intermittent two-closures and possible ramp closures, Sept. 1-14

  • Northbound Interstate 29 between 72nd Street and Mexico City Avenue.
  • Intermittent short-term ramp closures throughout this time.

Overnight ramp closure, Sept.2-3

  • NB I-29 to Cookingham Dri.
    • Traffic will follow a signed detour to the options below:
      • Exit at 112th St., then proceed on North Ambassador Dr. until reaching Cookingham Dr.
      • Exit at Mexico City Ave. and return to SB I-29 to exit at Cookingham Dr.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
