Mexico Finds No Evidence Connecting Maduro to Sinaloa Cartel
The US allegations, which tie Maduro to the powerful Mexican cartel and other transnational criminal groups, caught Mexican officials off guard.
"This is the first time we’ve heard about this issue. There is no investigation from Mexico related to it," Sheinbaum said during a press briefing.
She further challenged the US to produce proof, emphasizing, "As we always say, if they have any proof, let them show it. We have no evidence related to that."
The Trump administration labeled Maduro an international drug kingpin, accusing him of associations with Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang and the notorious Sinaloa Cartel, one of the largest drug trafficking organizations in the Western Hemisphere.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced via social media a boost in the reward for information leading to Maduro’s capture.
“He is one of the largest narco-traffickers in the world and a threat to our national security. Therefore, we doubled his reward to $50 million,” Bondi declared.
The updated bounty doubles the $25 million reward originally offered by the US in January.
